2020 Chevy Silverado HD Article and Photos

Here is a just published Motortrend article on the upcoming redesigned 2020 Chevrolet HD.

- No mention is made if the Duramax has a new engine code but it does say the torque is 910, same as the current L5P.

- The Duramax will have an Allison 10 speed.

- The gas engine is rumored to be a Navistar-sourced 6.6-liter V-8 from MD Trucks with a six speed automatic transmission.

- The styling is quite different. I will have to actually see on to decide if I like it. The designer is quoted as saying "The result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiseled finishes....".

- It should go on sale mid 2019.

I'm curious to see what the new 2020 GMC HD will look like.

Chevy website (not much info yet):

Official press release (LTZ version):

Official press release (High Country version):

From the side it looks good.
The rear is OK but I don't like the Toyota taillights.
The front of the HC is borderline O.K.
The front of the other one is HIDEOUS.

When I saw it I said I'm gonna get one. No Allison? Forget it.

As I recall, the upcoming 1500 Chevy and GMC truck will have the joint venture GM/Ford transmission.

The official press release linked above explicitly states an "Allison 10 Speed" and close up photos of the hood badging say Allison transmission.

Going from the 5 speed to the 6 speed Allison was relatively easy because the gears were already there. I would think going from 6 speed to 10 took some major redesign. I hope it will be as good as the predecessor.

Thank you Sklunk. I'm looking forward to seeing these trucks in person
