It's VERY IMPORTANT to ask your dealer "Do You Have Allocation" before ever giving them an order. I always phone at least 4 nearby dealers and ask for the salesperson to confirm allocation with the sales manager. Got caught once several years ago - never again.

Even after they tell me they have allocation, I make it clear that the order has to be at status 3000 in one week or I cancel !!!

So, I just ordered a 2019 Sierra 3500 HD Crew Cab with a dealer who had allocation. I gave the order early last week and it was at status 3000 by the end of the week. It now has a note that Target Production Week is June 25th, but I still don't have an actual build date and I'll be surprised if it gets built that week, right before the shutdown.

And yes, they are building pilots right now for the 2020 model year. I have it in writing from a union rep because I had arranged to go to Flint to watch the build and they have just cancelled my visit because of the pilots.

I'm monitoring my order status every few days with the dealer and will post once I get a build date. The document posted by Heymcall indicates 2019 crew cabs will start production on June 9th.

So my new 2019 is supposed to be built this coming week. Looks like it will be one of the first 2019s off the line. This is a big surprise considering it was originally targeted for June 25th.

I don't think there's any restriction on 2500s, they just have to be CREW CABS. Some of the new body style trucks (2020 model year) are being built now, for testing, but the present plan says it will be the second half of 2019 before they go in to production. Until then, the 2019s will be the same body style as 2016+.

2019 ordered

I got the same story on 5.11.18 Went in to order a truck, they searched for one I wanted but my options were too "esoteric" so the tried to order but wouldn't go through. Placed my order for the exact same truck 3500HD SRW 4x4 Duramax with my exact option set and it was only $60 more than the 2018. Got a call 2 weeks later that my build date is week of 6/25/18!

My truck was built last Thursday, June 14th, and was sent to GFX on Monday to have the spray in bed liner done. The VIN confirms it is indeed a 2019, so I hope they don't hold it at the Plant until August.

Thanks for the info @Ted White, Please post when you get a delivery date so I'll know what to expect. I'm having the spray in bedliner too. Hope it doesn't delay it much. My "build week" is still next week and I was hoping to get it shortly after July 4th week but I'm questioning that now.
