It is awfully tempting. I check out Laura from time to time just for S&Giggles.

Yes, very tempting. I have been trying to decide whether to buy a 2016 at a good price or wait and get a 2017 with the L5P Duramax. With no L5P's on dealer lots yet, I decided to do the next best thing, and please forgive me, I drove a 2017 Ford Lariat F-250 with the 6.7 after driving a 2016 GMC Denali with the Duramax. If the L5P runs anything like Ford's 6.7, and I hope it does, I am seriously reconsidering wanting a 2016. Yes, there is that much difference in performance. So, for now, my truck buying is on hold until I can drive a GM truck with the new motor.

I'd be willing to bet the difference you experienced between the two vehicles was in throttle response, and that can be fixed on the GMC. It's a drive by wire, and they make a simple add on that will make a world of difference.

Tom,

I've followed the posts on the LML's throttle response issues since I'm interested in one, and the posts , as I recall, said the devices did make a big difference in throttle response, but no increase in power. The Ford with 43 more hp and 160 ft lbs of torque should feel more powerful and it certainly did.

I'm in the same boat as MAX3500 and Callie 454. I have a 2011 with 40K on the clock and nothing wrong with the truck. The prices on the 2016 seem to be to good to pass up.

Is it worth trading/selling a 6 year old truck for a 2016? My plan is to hopefully retire in 10 years and wouldnt want a new truck payment at that time. Am I better off keeping what I have for 4-6 more years. Looking for opinions (based upon depreciation, potential problems, etc). Only put on 8-10k miles per year now and more at retirement. thks guys!

Hi dmax3500,

'Tis the season to be driving a Professional Grade GMC. If you’d like to take this particular truck for a test drive, please send us a private message. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.
