GM's looking at massive layoff's and your giving out costs for the company who employs you???

Seriously, it's this kind of stupidity that makes me believe we deserve to have all our jobs shipped overseas.

GM's layoff's are the same as any corporation that needs to
have a "reduction in force". It is never good to have a layoff,
but what they are doing is much better than putting people out
with nothing but unemployment. They are going to get more asking
for the layoff who would be retireing soon anyway than they need.(IMHO)
Thiis is not speculation on my part, I just took the same type deal
a few months ago. The things you are seeing helps keep the workers
working and keeps the money flowing. Telling someone the cost of a
product does not hurt the manufacturer, but cuts the profit of the
dealers.

You can only hope only the profits of the dealer are lost. . .

Still don't get it. . . the idea of giving costs out to anyone on the internet is crazy. . .

When are you getting these prices??? Off of a work computer on time THEY are paying you for? AND your goal is to take money from YOUR customer?? (Assuming you are working for the manuacturer and your customer is the dealer network.) Not only are you steeling information from your employeer you are also giving out sensitive corporate information.

Sticking up for this guy is like yelling at your kids teacher because they got in trouble for doing something they shouldn't have done in class.

I started to go on further but, deleted. . . hopefully I've made my point.

I bought when the You Pay What We Pay promotion came out so, no. . . I didn't look on here for pricing.

But, this isn't my first purchase and yes, I've asked others for help on getting the best price / knowing what a fair price is. Nothing wrong with that.

So, I guess Howard is 06DuramaxHO??? You say he's retired but, his first post on the thread he says he works for GM?? I'm just a little confused. ???

I'm really not trying to stir the pot and go off on a rant. . . I just think it's FLAT wrong for someone that works for he factory to give out corporate secrets (Pricig is a corporate secret!)

Think about it. . .

I can't believe more people don't agree on this.

DuneMe-

He's trying to help people out with getting a good deal on their truck. Most of the time the dealers are out screwing the customers by marking up the price, if I could I would buy a vehicle straight from GM and pick it up myself I would. It would save money on shipping and transportation costs and the customer and GM would win in that situation

Since you can't do that its good to realize just how much dealer mark-up is on these trucks and what you can expect to pay to get a good deal.

Let's get this straight, looks like you have some mods on your truck, when you take it in for warranty work are you going to tell GM about your Edge and other performance mods?

Who's screwing who now??

Shades of grey.

But seriously, one thing going to the dealer and stealing something out of one of the cars on the lot. . . totally different not telling them about a performance modification. But you are correct. . . If I was a perfect human (and I am NOT) I would be totally honest with the dealer and tell him about the modifications. But, in a perfect world they would also say. . . "It's ok that you have a programmer. We'll work to fix your vehicle at no cost under warranty. If we think the programmer caused the problem, we'll be sure to proove it did before we come to you asking for any money. We recognize that is the law and we want to be sure to protect you (the consumer's) rights.

Oh, I absolutely won't tell them about the Edge. . . just so we are straight.

There are sites on the web (edmunds) that can give you pricing. Again, when a guy that works for GM offers to give out company secrets. . . WRONG.

There is a reason you can't buy from GM directly. They have established a relationship with a network of dealers that support the manufacturer and in-turn the manufacturer supports the dealer. A guy that works for the manufacturer is breaking that promise.

Just get the info from Edmunds. What this guy is doing is wrong. . . especially since the only way for him to get the info is by using the Company's Computer and during time he should be performing other tasks he is GETTING PAID TO DO.

Unfortunately, there are dealers / salespeople that don't always have the best interest of the consumer in mind. There are also a LOT of consumers that walk into dealers unprepared. I don't mind a dealer making their money off the uneducated / uninformed consumer. The way I look at it is we all have the information available and it isn't the dealer's responsibility to make sure the customer gets the best price. . . Also, the more uneducated / uninformed (to make it easier I'll just call them "stupid") consumers there are out there getting "screwed" the easier it will be for the dealer to give me a great deal on my truck. They need the stupid consumers to keep them in business but, when they need to move some steel, I'll be there to help them (at a lower price of course.)

It's one thing to be married and look at other women. . . totally different when you start touching.

Don't want to assume anything so, are you calling me one? If so, please be specific and explain why.

I really don't want to continue to rant about this but, as long as people want to argue the point I guess I'll continue.
