2007 Tahoe with a diesel

I was looking under the hood of one of the new Tahoes and Yukons the other day and noticed it has a spot for a second battery and a few stickers that mention a diesel equipped vehicle. It looks like it's already made for it and all they have to do is drop it in. Not a bad idea in a vehicle this big. Should make a great truck for towing, plowing, ect.

By the way, i'm not a fan of the front end of the new trucks when I looked at them in person. They look like oversized vans. No real bumpers anymore (which I think is what makes the front end look out of proportion, there is nothing to break it up), no more chrome at all, and the hood is raked so much you can't tell where the front of the truck ends from the inside (making it a PITA to park). On the Yukon the one piece lights are way too big. One stone or something hits it I bet it's $500+ to replace. The console is huge too and the seats arn't as big and comfy as before. While I think GM did a great job mechanically, I think they are a little off on the style. I hope the Suburban 2500 looks a little better when I buy that with the diesel (which I was told by GM is definately coming out with the Duramax 6.6L in 2008, just in time to replace my '95 Diesel 'burb I've had since it was new).

I think you'll see the 1/2 ton trucks released, then the 3/4 ton v8 diesels, then a 1/2 ton with a v6 diesel then a sub with a v6 diesel. Just a guess. We'll know when Gm is ready to let us know.

I'll bet the Dmax will be very close looking to the new Tahoe. I'd venture that they will share a lot of parts, esp underhood. Easier for GM to design one engine compartment for all the trucks...

just a rumor but i heard that it has been/will be almost impossible to get a 3/4 ton suburban because of contracts with dealers to ship them to the military. 30/month for 48 months. no telling when this started, but i heard it was from several different dealerships. this puts a strain on any extra 3/4 ton suburbans to the public.
