No plate number. I was rolling down the highway in moderate traffic at about 70 mph. I was in the far left lane and he in the right. It took me a mile before I even seen his truck ahead of a few cars. It was pretty obvious where it came from as the grit from the granite is embedded in my windshield and was the same color as the rock in his truck. I am pretty sure he was about 1500 to 2000 lbs overloaded.

I thought about running him off the road and killing him, but I figured that would just end up being a hassle with lawyers and courts and jails, so I just kept driving. I probably should have at least followed him to the jobsite and put a rake through his window.

These landscapers and belly dump rock trucks are the worst people on the roads around here. They drive like ****, they don't tarp their loads, and they throw rocks and vegetation debris all over the road. No big deal, the cops don't seem to care and they put a sticker on their trailers that says "stay back 500 feet, not responsible for damage to vehicles". I'm gonna put one on my truck that says "put a rock through my window, not responsible for .45 caliber head wounds".

Got a rock trip on the front of my hood now too. That must have happened in the last couple days cause I just washed it a few days ago and didn't see it. I was going to add some clear bra material to the hood and front fenders to protect it better. I did that with the wife's Tahoe and it turned out great. Cost me about $600, so it is spendy. Truck would not be that much, maybe a $250 since it is a lot less surface to cover since it is mostly chrome, which can't be covered.

I rented a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu when my lift was being done. I noticed that the front grill insert was a hard plastic mesh in a 1/4" diamond shape. The insert had a slight bend in it just like our bumpers and was a similar length/width. I thought about buying one and trying to retrofit it to work, but I didn't take any measurements to be sure. If it married up pretty good and you could figure out how to hard mount it, it would look very clean and stock.

Cooler protector

This is what I had a Hutterite Colony in SD make for me for $30.00 . It is half inch holes, and tie wrapped in with 3/8" tie wraps. It is made with, I think 16 or 18 gauge stainless steel.

Wow - they had to turn your truck upside down to install it?

That looks good. I wanted to go with that pattern, but smaller holes spaced closer in center.

Where did you zip tie it? Are you going to do a hard mount?

Zip tie

I tied to a bar just under the top of the bumper. It is 6 1/2" by 22", and the bottom fits up against a plastic piece in front of the cooler. I used 8 ties on the top, I don't think, other than a deer will knock it out of there, at least not the grasshoppers, and birds anyway.

Here is what I ended up with. I used the billet grille insert now available for these trucks, and used AXE's idea of the gutter screen behind it to get a little more protection.
