May wait to order my 2015 HD 3500

I was very excited to see the HD 15 tucks on dealer lots over the weekend. After talking to my local dealer we decided to special order my 2015 truck as I was looking for something very unique and at this time nothing for a dually was available. Friday night I was on the computer building my new truck at Chevrolet.com. I printed everything out and was going to the dealer this week to finalize the build and put a deposit down.... Then a buddy sent me a link about the 2015 Ford Diesel, now I am not a Ford guy but 440HP and 860 Torque for a stock truck!!!

2015 Ford Power Stroke: 440 hp 860 lb-ft of torque - Diesel Power

I did call my dealer and put a hold on ordering my truck. I wonder if Chevy will follow Ford? I did not want to spend 60k and 6 months Later Chevrolet releases a new motor. They have done mid year changes like the 2007.5 trucks. I cant believe I am saying that i might entertain a new FORD>

I am definitely gm partial but do have to say that I really like the looks (and the numbers) of the new fords. With that said I drive close to 800 miles a day and see 3 or 4 fords (some newer) every day broke down on the side of the road. I think you should at least go drive one of all 3 to see what you think and decide from there. I went through the same thing when I ordered my '15 gmc a month ago.

More likely to be a reflash then a hard part change.. Remember, peak numbers are near meaningless - no one tows only at peak anything..

Agreed, I would take the 2015 as it has plenty of power--the Ford is still riding on an old chassis with some upgrades.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder but I personally think the Super Duty looks like it got beat with the ugly stick. It's also sitting on a very dated platform. I will give Ford credit, they are good stock numbers but its not enough to change my mind on getting a Duramax. Multiple tests have shown the Duramax to still be very competitive when the rubber actually meets the road.

I get such a kick out of these threads. It's amazing to me that someone would buy a totally different truck than what they want just because it is "rated" with more HP and torque. Especially funny because, as mentioned, the Duramax puts the power down so much better. Yeah the SD with the new ratings might pull away from the Duramax, but that is at full throttle pulls! While yes I have raced a few times with a gooseneck on the back, but how often do you put your foot to the floor and keep it there until you hit 70 MPH while towing? And guess what it takes to make more power, more fuel! Surprising what guys will do so they can wag their big stick and impress everybody with the "rated"power numbers of their truck. . . . . .

Actually they're upgrading to a larger turbo and different injectors. But I do agree with the rest of your statement. Just clarifying for others. Also for what it's worth to the OP I'd stick with a proven reliable Dmax/Allison combo.
