Some people like "steam punk" style. Others like "art deco" or "modernist"

To each their own.
Some people probably like the '15 interior & dash mainly because of the new touchscreen driven features they've added more so than the looks.

Personally, I think the dash used in the '08-'10 SUVs & higher trim level trucks is a lot cleaner looking (I don't like the bench seat truck dash nearly as much) than the '15 dash.
As far as practical things like seating, if you want good really good seats (that will be comfortable and durable over the long haul), you need to go with an aftermarket seating at a cost of over $600 per seat. OEM GM (or Ford or Chrysler) seats may be designed to look like an expensive seat, but they don't work like them.

But I really prefer the relatively flat blank canvas I have to work with, but then again I'm doing stuff most people never will, like moving the radio over to made room for a "real" multi-function display that will be a LOT more versatile than any OEM display (even Tesla's 17" display is smaller than what I'm using). I'm sure a lot of people would consider this way too bland. But to me it looks reasonable good, and more importantly it provides more spare space in which I can add the features and displays I want without having to hang them off of the 'A pillar' or sticking up on a pole coming up from the console. Try doing that on one of the '15 pickup dash that has something crammed into every square inch, and is all broken up into little nooks & crannies, with very little relatively flat space to work with.

I hadn't seen the interior before. It's even worse that the exterior! What's with the heater controls? Off-the-shelf junk like on my beater '02 Saturn! I think the Federal Government ownership influence is at work here; make the truck ugly to kill sales so they will have an excuse to eliminate trucks all together and put us all in Volts.

Are you thinking that picture I posted above is of the '15 pickup interior?
The context of the preceding paragraph indicates otherwise.

The photos below are the '15 interior. I can't decide whether they look more like an '80s video game console or a vending machine.
Either way, it's a jam-packed conglomeration of curves, angles & trapezoids, combined to create lots of nooks and crannies
(that little groove around the main shapes should be especially effective at catching dust).
And a 140mph speedometer in an HD pickup is ridiculous for those who use it for what it was built to do. Only a little over half the speedo is of any practical use.

Yeah, was the previous photo of the W/T? I agree, a 140 mph is stupid, especially when they are electronically limited to 100 mph. And probably aero limited not much higher. And holy KRAP; SEVEN FRIGGIN CUP HOLDERS holders in the front seat?!

Maybe my eyes deceive me, but I see 2 cup holders with the center console version, and 3 with the split bench version...

Where do you count 7 cup holders? Do you mean in the doors too? Are those cup holders, or just the typical door storage?

I am not liking the boxy interior either.
But I will state something unpopular... and it applies to my LTZ over my Work Truck... The push button heater controls are STUPID. the cheezy rotary dials actually are FUNCTIONALLY more correct for while you are driving. I am sorry, some designers forget that you should be able to adjust ANYTHING without having to look at the controls. This era of everyday distractions like smartphones, and fast food in the car, LIKE we need to be taking our eyes off the road to hit buttons.

The TOUCH screens are NICE and all, but aren't real practical to run essential functions while going down the road.

The exterior of the 2015 truck, I like, but even the higher end interior dash, NOT so much.
