can we talk about this Credit Union "credit"?

I've read this sprinkled throughout the forum. Any chance we can consolidate a thread on this potential money saver? Talk about what you saved, how you went about obtaining it, did you have any difficulty with the dealer, how long to you have to be a CU member, and where you are. Thanks.

My truck stickers for $56999, and after the credit union supplier discount it knocked it down to $53126. You can sign up online at the link below:

https://www.exclusivegmoffer.com/ip-...do?program=cud

When you register, you'll have to select which credit union you're a member of. I don't see any restrictions on how long you have to be a member. You'll be emailed a supplier number to give the dealer. It's up to the dealer to verify credit union membership. Mine did not ask for anything other than the supplier number. FYI, you can join www.penfed.org for $25.

Does that Credit Union rebate interfere with the dealer's incentives? Like, does one cancel the other one?

It shouldn't alter factory rebates but it can change anything the dealer was going to do on his own for you.

You can get any factory rebates in addition to the supplier price for being a member. You typically won't get anything additional past that from the dealer, though. Im sure the dealer loses some of their cut when honoring supplier price. My supplier price with the $1500 rebate put the discount right around $5400 off of sticker. Do the math on the 3% kickback that GM gives to the dealer at the end of the quarter for each vehicle sold. Not too shabby considering it's in addition to what they made at the time of the sale. It also helps when the trucks are $50k+ in price!

Monday I'll have to get in touch with a local credit union (just up the road). Is the credit union's supplier price a dollar value or a percentage off of MSRP?

I may be wrong, but I don't think all CU's offer the discount. So check before you join

Is it any CU, or only ones connected to auto related manufacturers? I don't belong to a CU.
