I bet Ford and Chrysler $h!t when they heard that. Could you imagine Chrysler having to cover their drivetrains for 100k miles .

Ruben,

You lucky bast..d. Aren't you glad you got your 07 now. I would be pissed if I bought the warranty & did not get a refund. I still love my truck 06. Chevy is willing to back there parts so they must build them better too then.

It's about time they do something to tout quality and market their products rather than just having blowout fire sales!

So even if you already own one and your warranty book says 3/36 you're automatically bumped to 5/100. I wonder what they do if you already bought an 07 and at the time the warranty was the 3/36 so you then went ahead and dropped a few grand on the extended warranty. Are those people gonna get a refund? As far as us 2006 guys go .
Nearly all extended service contacts are refundable on a pro-rated basis. Just go back to the dealer you bought it from an fill out the necessary paperwork to get it cancelled. If you financed it along with the truck, then it will come off the bottom line, which will just shorten your contract term, but won't reduce your payment. If you paid cash, you'll get a check back from the company that underwrites the policy. Expect about 8-12 weeks for the refund or credit to hit. Just remember, the new warranty covers the drivetrain ONLY...not electronic components, AC units or controls, ECMs etc... that your extended warranty may cover. Take in mind that an ECM takes about 30 minutes to replace, but costs around +- $1500, that could be what you paid for your extended warranty. Weigh the costs before you cancel...drivetrains components are the least likely components to fail!

They might just do a re-rate of the warranty since the powertrain is now covered. The ext warranty would then cover everything other than the powertrain.

You can always opt for a refund also. Considering the circumstances, I would hope they would refund 100% of the price rather than pro-rating.

Recap please

So let me get this straight. If I read this correctly, wasn't the Duramax's already under the 5/100 powertrain and 3/36 non-powertrain umbrella already? So isn't this warranty plan just a boost for their car line anyway to be competitive with the Japanese automakers? The only difference I see is that you get more assistance when you need service..

I am not sure (still trying to find out) if the Allison was covered for 5/100 previously, but you are correct on the Duramax itself, we gained two things after 3/36 you had to pay a $100 deductable to get your engine fixed, that is no longer the case, GM dropped the deductable on '07 models. The other thing we gained is an additional 2 years of roadside assistance regardless if the problem is related to the powertrain.
