L5P Exhaust

I am posting this here because this is something unique to the L5P, and that is the restrictor in tail pipe. Now Banks and others have DPF filter back exhaust pipes that claim in the neighborhood of 20 HP. My theory is simply removing the necked down section of the factory pipe will provide the same power gain by removing the restriction in the pipe.

I thought about this for a while and then got out the cut off wheel. I had the truck on the lift anyway, so what the heck. I cut off the weld on the cooling cuff and then removed it. I next took a sawzall and cut off the pipe restrictor and then welded the cooling cuff back on. After starting the truck, the cooling cuff apears to still work fine. So the big question is if it will take longer to regen due to the increased exhaust flow and probably lower EGT's. I think it will be some cheap HP though

I have cut the end restriction off both my trucks.
I also added a 15deg elbow to keep the heat off our 5th wheel then added a 5" x 18" tip that I ventilated with 12 5/8" holes for cooling.

I can't say if the removal of the tip is to blame or the installation of the Banks Ram air kit, but towing my 5er yesterday seemed to have noticeably lower egt's
that the last time I towed it. I bucked a pretty stiff quartering head wind too.

Yours looks great Simple with an angle cut tip.

Wish somebody sold this in a clamp on ready to go setup.
Don’t really want a Banks or whoever exhaust kit when all I need is an elbow with expanded end and tip.
I would cut off the factory pipe at the bend behind the axle myself.
They would probably sell a ton of them, get the exhaust off the trailer.
