1500 Cab on a 2500hd frame with a lb7
So I'm rebuilding my old 2002 Chevy 2500hd with an LB7 in it, the body is totally shot and the only other cabs i can find to replace are just 1500 cabs. So my question is what am i going to have to look out for when swapping a 1500 cab on to a 2500 frame, am i going to have to rewire the whole thing or what?
The cabs should be basically the same. Sometimes when you cross the year ranges you will find differences for the mounting points on the interior as well as electrical connections. some minor some more work than it is worth.
For sheet metal, usually 99-02 , 03-07 classic
For the electrical try and stay 99-00 then 01-02 , 03-04 , 05-07 classic. There are some things from say an 03 that will work in say an 06.
It's not that hard to strip it all the way down to the bare shell.
Is single, extended, or crew cab? When you say Shot, are you talking body damage or rust/rot issues?
Ok awesome yea its a 2002 chevy silverado 2500hd extended cab and the cab got crushed by snow/ice falling off a roof. My friend is getting rid of his 2002 gmc serria 1500 so i was going to take his cab as its in great shape extended cab as well only difference is his has a 5.3 and I've got the duramax. Im just not sure if the wiring in the dash will all be the same or if the main plugs under the hood are going to work or am i going to have to strip both cab and rewire the 1500 with the 2500 wiring?
