The thread sealant is a little easier to work with then tape, you'll be in an awkward spot, and sometimes the tape doesn't stay on the fitting right-meaning you have to try again.

And the pix showed up, at least on mobile view.

And seeing those pics, I now realize I need a new oil cooler. Cuz mine doesn't have any built in fittings.
And I think the 2 oil cooler lines were coupled together, which likely contributed to the spun bearing by the PO.

So, I'll be ordering a tru cool M or H 7b oil cooler off Amazon today. As I saw in another post Kaiser recommended.

I'm gonna grind that head tab too in short order. I'll try to get pics.
Also for the block fittings, is Teflon tape fine?
Or should I get that fancy thread sealant? I think it was permatex 562 or something
In this link from that thread you see the OP had to grind some in his mod ( shown in pics #17,18, and #19 shows the after grind pic to give you an idea)

Well, this weekend I got the engine in the suburban, and changed the torque converter seal and installed the rear seal just before.
Unfortunately a valve cover caught on the cross bar over the radiators and flipped a corner, so I'm tearing them off and redoing them with engine in place... But I was leery of the rtv/cork gasket that I put there and was fearing I'd be redoing anyway after I got it running. So I gotta remove fuel lines and see if I can leave the turbo and such in place. But engine is mounted and now as I finish I'm closer to actually starting it.
Finally feels like I'm painting my way out of the room. Rather than into a corner. This is a much bigger project than I thought I was getting into initially. But each step I make, and each step I have to redo are getting me closer to the end. So frustrations, while annoying, aren't stopping me. I'm hoping to be wrapping up soon. But just keep on plugging away at it till I'm ready to turn the key.

I just thought I'd update y'all, and thanx for keeping me on point
