Haha. Queue Metallica "Sad But True" it rode better over big bumps that sent my head into the roof of the truck. Regretting selling it but I did pretty good on the sale.

Yesterday got the truck torn down and degreased. Waiting for UPS to deliver the Fluidampr after cleaning the radiator and installing the crank seal. I'm about to go out and get the Flight Systems PMD installed.

What sucks is my stock pulley and damper had nothing really wrong with them. A little squeezing of the rubber on the damper but that's it. It was like that when I inspected last and hadn't really changed since 2012.

Its very possible that I wasted my money but oh well.

About to go install the Flight Systems PMD

Pics from the two days of work.

That Leroy crank pulley is the real f'in deal.

Some teardown pics. I don't know where the oil is coming from. Currently everything is dry after a degrease.

Since I switched to a Flight Systems PMD on my Heath cooler I had to file the resistor and cut the ears off the connector. It still doesn't want to fit worth a crap. Flight Systems is much bigger and almost doesn't fit on the Heath cooler.

Good: no stalling.

Bad: no real difference with the way it runs. I feel like I wasted my money and would have been better off with replacing the injectors. But, with the performance aspirations I have it's a necessary evil.

The truck has been reliable since the PMD.

Engine dry since the crank seal replacement.

Runs fine down the road with good power. Works like a mule and has hauled probably 20 loads of firewood maybe more since the repair. Maybe 20 round bales. Square bales. Helped move a couple people. Moved 2000 lbs of landscape blocks. Among other stuff.

Does not start below 20 degrees without block heater. Needs injectors.

Door chime goes on and off constantly. No amount of shimming of the plastic thing it rests on seems to quiet it. I've gotten used to it, but blown a speaker trying to drown out.

Performance besides marine injectors when I can afford them is on hold. I'm broke!!!!

Why go marine injectors? Proven they drain your wallet and aren't any better for the engine.
FD is a great choice, engines run soo much smoother its not funny, changes the sound too.

I didn't really notice a ton of difference with the FD. It did make it a little smoother here and there, like on startup, but I still have all poly mounts. The place where I notice it the most is when cruising and I roll into the throttle (but not enough to downshift). Its just a smooth clean, torquey pull (for a 6.5) I don't remember before. Makes it nicer to cruise around in and runs more like you would expect from a diesel.

On the marines (and the FD): my eventual goal for this truck is to build a balanced engine running twin ported GM8's and 5000rpm programmed into the shift logic. The marine injectors don't have throttling pintles which make them simpler and more suited for high RPM use. Just a hypothesis, and that goal is a LONG ways off...

Oh look. A year later and now I don't even have a job so im even broker than before. Truck still needs injectors. I had em in the basket even before I got sh*tcanned in November... Be nice if I had them I actually have time to work on it.

Starting to need tires. Batteries are showing age.

Dad backed into a tree and messed up the rear bumper.

Passenger door stopper siezed and bent now it's all ****y. Probably will do both sides and door pins and harness boots too.

Rust is getting worse.

I fixed the door beeper by cramming office staples in between the plunger and the switch body. **** It's Michael Bolton little ***.

Ride has gotten noticably worse not sure why.

Hopefully I can sell some stuff to buy some.

Brother I gotta say, this post had my wife and I CRYING with laughter last night. Not to make light at all bud but maybe you should be a comedy writer, cuz WOW.

I really do hope things start looking up for you on the truck side of things. But please, keep the stuff coming when you feel inspired. It's fantastic.

I just tuned into this thread, cause of the popularity of it. Haven't gotten to read all the pages, but skimmed through looking for some photos of the vehicle. Didn't see any, so I guess the OP is embarrassed by it. Don't know why. Most of these vehicles are way over 25 years old, and aren't finished...cosmetically. And a lot of us can relate to the financial set backs that restrict us all. All we can do is poke a little at a time. Keep the dream alive, and don't give up. You're doin good so far.

Byron, thanks for the kind words. Things are better and also not better. Working sales at a Dodge dealership. Still not sure if it's for me. Making a little money with promise for more but hemmoraging time. The weather has been too cold/salty to take the truck out so far for any daily drives just been using the block heater when I need it to farm.

Joeq, yeah I am a bit ashamed, but it is a work truck first and foremost so maybe I shouldn't be. I took pics of the truck just for you!

Notable notes: deer rolled down the driver's side the day I paid it off. Cab full of hauly things and fixy things. Usually a chainsaw back there too. Fencing/digging out gates stuff in the back.

In one pic you can see a
