04.5 LLY Turbo Exhaust Tube

Hit a bump on the highway this past weekend and the exhaust sound changed immediately. Took truck to Chev dealer today and they just called and said the Turbo Exhaust Tube had a crack. $795.00 to fix...Price breakdown was $195.00 for the Turbo Exhaust tube, $115 for 2 heavy duty clamps and 1 gasket. $485.00 for labor. Does that sound right? Can I do this myself?

i'm guessing the downpipe cracked. never heard of a stock piece cracking, but i guess anything is possible.
i would (and did) replace it with an aftermarket downpipe if you're gonna go in there. it's not the hardest thing in the world. just fishing the old one out and the new one in can be a pain in the ***.

I haven't stopped back to the dealer yet to see it but the service manager did say they weren't sure how good it would go into the aftermarket exhaust pipe so I'm just guessing what they are calling the Turbo Exhaust Tube is in fact the downpipe. The price they quoted me seems a bit steep. We're only talking a tube and 2 clamps.

Not sure how easy it will be. I have to remember I'm 68 years old and not 30 anymore. If I got the do=it myself route is the an aftermarket tube out there that is as good or better than the GM part and what does it run?

Have no problem with them making a little money although when I was in business I would have loved to make 50%. Was just wondering if $485.00 for the labor was a bit steep and if replacing the tube was something I could do after buying the parts from them.
