10 Qts and I use 15 - 40w diesel rated oil. Most any top name brand will be OK. Just keep using what you start using.

I was advised to not change to synthetic oil untill 10k miles because the rings will not seat properly. I have been using Shell Rotella T.

I use delo 400 15-40 with the ac delco filter and I change the oil every three thousand as well. I know it's overkill but oh well.

I don't know what type oil the factory puts in when new, but when I did my first oil change at 1500 miles the oil pressure runs 5 psi more than before. I use Delo 15-40. By the way I called a few dealers inquiring what type of oil they would put in if I brought it in for an oil change and both said " we have a 55 gal. drum we take it from and it's 5-40w. I hung up, this isn't even recommended by GMC, I did it myself. Plus I was more careful and was able to stuff a few rags under the sikd plate to catch the spill. Gene

Every 3 thousand?? Overkill doesn't quite describe it! Invest $20 on an oil analysis and relax a little.

I've used a variety of oils, had great service from all of them so far. Primarily Rotella-T 15W40, Mobil Delvac 1300 Super 15W40 and I'm just "finishing up" a charge of Schaeffer's 7000 15W40. I've also run a good bit of Rotella-T 5W40 "semi-syn" in cold weather and I'm going to replace the Schaeffer's very soon with my first charge of Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W40 syn. After some quick changes during break-in, I settled on a 7500 mile oil & filter regimine. After 100,000+ miles and continuing excellent oil analysis results, I decided to go with the "change oil" system, which trips pretty much at 7800 to 8000 miles. I have an Amsoil dual remote filtering system, and I could go much further based on oil analysis (especially on the synthetics) but with Rotella-T and Mobil 1 Truck & SUV at less than $20 a gallon - I prefer to go ahead and swap out.

"To summarize, we conclude that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. That right existed prior to the formation of the new government under the Constitution and was premised on the private use of arms for activities such as hunting and self-defense, the latter being understood as resistance to either private lawlessness or the depredations of a tyrannical government (or a threat from abroad)."
