Hard starting lly when hot

Starting last week my truck started starting hard when its still hot only been shut off for a lil while. Changed fuel filter and looked for leaks none found. First thing in the morning it fires right up but if its still warm at all it will take some cranking b4 it fires up, sometimes takes a couple trys of about 5-10sec cranking. Any ideas would be appreciated

When warm/hot does it crank at regular speed?
If cranks slow, check starter draw, voltage when cranking, check battery cables and grounds.
If cranks normal, then there are other problems to look at.
Let us know.

mine did that... was the fuel rail. it eventually wouldnt start at all. 2 separate shops tried to say it was fprv but after the first shop i installed the ppe race plug and it still did it. second shop said fprv and i told him not possible still put a new one in before he realized it was the rail.... and charged me for the new fprv even though i told him no it cant be that. said it was necessary for diagnosis >

So what was wrong with the rail that caused this? the rail is just a manifold that desperses the fuel to the injectors what went wrong with it?

something inside bent or whatever.. the mechanic didnt really say.. but it was allowing the fuel past the plug even and wouldnt build pressure in the rail. could have bought the ppe rail for the same price as the stock one from the dealership and saved the 1800$ labor for all the bs

You can check the FPRV-- just pull the "U" hose off the fuel rail-- plug the hose, and crank the engine. If ANY fuel comes out the rail nipple, the FPRV is leaking.
