My friend and I stripped off his performance parts today and started swapping them over to my truck because he is trading his in early next week.
All of a sudden when we were finished we get a p0238 which I've been researching but don't know how to fix it for him.
Here's what we did today.
1.Swapped out his afe st 2 intake for his stocker.
2.Capped his egt probe in manifold
3.Plugged his boost hole in the intake manifold.
4.Removed front pipe and reinstalled catted pipe.
5.Removed PPE boost controller
6.Removed gauges

We checked all the areas that we were working for connections, especially the boost controller connection. All are good that we can see.
He left the PPE hot tune in a started it.We got a p0238 code.We set it to stock program and test drove. It felt like it was cutting out and code was set.We played around with different tunes and back to stock but when it was started the code set again. We cleared it everytime with the PPE.
I can't figure it out.The only thing not stock is the FPRV is shimmed and a cat back exhaust..Is that the problem???Does the truck need some driving time to relearn or what?

Thanks

Is it buried down by the plug?If so; knowing what a pain the plug is to get at, how hard to switch out the sensor itself?

Thanks

Not sure where exactly. I had the same code along with a P0299. Dealer diagnosed and will fix under warranty. Both codes deal with boost pressure.

Yeah the 238 codes appearently is an overboost code.Wierd that it's doing it with no tune though. That's why I though maybe a few driving cycles my solve his problem. He going to trade his truck in on tuesday, but worries the dealer will try to screw him with a light on and running rough.

Is his truck still under warranty? Mine did not show up until I removed the predator tune, which I thought was weird. I assume the tune overrides or bypasses the sensor, but I don't know for sure.

mine did this after disconnecting the batteries.cleared the codes and still didnt help.I reflashed with the stock programming and all has been well since.

No,warranty is over,he has about 60 000 miles on it.I can't see a sensor going bad exactly at the time all the aftermarket stuff is removed,it must be another issue I would think.
Can we rule out the shim mod causing the problem?
Should we have the dealer flash in a new stock program before the trade in?
Should he just drive it in with the light on and running rough andf let them scan it to see it's most likely a 50 dollar part?

thanks
