Noise at 2500-3000 rpm's

It's been to the dealer twice in the last two weeks and they can't seem to figure it out. They called the tech line and they said a few trucks have the same problem but no solution...I'm not sure I believe that. THE PROBLEM, is that when you are pushing the motor you start hearing a noise that sounds like it is coming from under the dash and it sounds like metal rattling. It only happens when the rpm's hit 2500-3000 and only when your in drive. Will not do it in park. I've checked under the dash to see if something is loose and nothing.

The dealer thought it was my boost guage. which was not the case. Then they replaced my power steering pump and then the power steering booster and still the noise is there. They are supposedly waiting for Gm to come up with a solution. They think it may be some type of vaccum leak.

Has anyone had this problem?.....Solution?

Thanks

This is a different noise, it's not the valve rattle you get sometimes, which I think comes from the pilot injector shutting off early. This noise sounds like it is caused by a vibration. the sound is not that loud and it sounds like two pieces of metal vibrating and it only last until the motor shifts

That's what I though before I took it to the dealer, so I checked for any loss shields and came up with nothing. I even looked to see if one was bent and touching something else but no luck. The last time it was at the dealer they had it for three days and came up with nothing.

try looking at the pass side kick panel area there is a module that attaches right around the glove box area i had mine in 4 times for a rattle

I have an exchaust pipe hanger/bracket that sounds that way when the engine rpm matches up with some other condition that causes the correct harmonics in the frame to cause the hanger to rattle. When I get the chance, I will get under the truck and move things around enough to change the harmonic frequency at which the hanger reacts.

Just try this....as you are driving...pick up on your 4x4 shifter knob. Pull up hard. Mine makes a noise similar and it seems like something loose in the shifter connection....like a washer is vibrating. I thought it was coming from under the dash but it was actually my shift lever for my 4 wheel drive. It's coming from under my floorboard so I live with it for now.Worth a shot.
