83 olds delta 88 with 307

Hey guys.I have my eye on a burgundy color 83 olds delta 88 4 door sedan with the olds 307.Its in very good shape.I worked on that car last year or back in 2017 and did some repair to the engine with head gaskets, arp head bolts, etc but its a great car for my 78 5.7 Diesel engine I have sitting in the garage for the past 9 years or so.I rebuilt it back in 2007 but Id like to find a new home for it and this car is a perfect candidate for it.The guy who owns it is good friends with my father but I believe he wants $4500 for it but its a very nice rust free vehicle.I may decide to purchase it soon as its in awesome shape. The interior is also immaculate. The paint is faded a little but not bad at all.Ill let you guys know how things go with it.

I decided to pass on this project as I’m pretty sure the owner is now holding onto the car.Maybe something else will come along but I did see another car like it but it was rusty in a lot of places so I steered away from that as well.

Was it a 2 door? I really like all that last wave of full size GM 2 doors.

Was the 307 having issues again? If not it seemed like it would have been a lot of work. If it was shot that would be another story.

95 Burb K25 3.73's CRASHED 250K miles, looks to have been rebuilt at least once, stock, bad rust, DE exhaust w/walker muffler, 8' western plow.
81 Buick Riviera GAVE AWAY with the infamous Olds 5.7 diesel possibly still going strong.
15 VW Golf wagon, TDI. Did the buyback on my 13 Jetta TDI wagon so it was basically a trade up.
96 Burb K25 3.42's SOLD at 340K miles, told it was all original, close race between engine wearing out or body completely rust out.

Both cars were 4 door versions but hopefully down the road something else will pop up.I didn’t want to really deal with the car if it had a lot of rust issues and the white car I had a look at was getting bad in a few areas. The 307 in both cars seemed okay but I’ve always been a diesel fan since I was a teen..lol.I worked on one of those 307 engines a couple years ago for a guy I know by putting arp head bolts on it and had one valve replaced as part of the valve above the keepers had broken off so I found that unusual for sure.I find a lot of those olds engines are hard on the valves where the rocker arm makes contact.Lash caps would definitely make a difference.
