Oldsmobile LT7 V6 Diesel Parts

Hi, I'm new to the diesel business and bought a '82 Olds Cutlass Ciera with 4.3l V6 diesel LT7. I am already aware of their illnesses in the engines and wanted to know where spare parts are, headbolt, head gasket etc.

Next question is I can change in the engines de Standart fuel filter against a filter with a water separator, since he ex factory has no separator or am I wrong?

2nd question is: because my injection pump is defective because of rust, which is due to the lack of water separator, how do I reset the OT point when I used the new pump?

Thanks in advance.

OT point?

5.7 parts and gaskets have got really hard to find in the last 5 or so years and there were a lot more of those around than any of the 4.3's. I'm no expert but I believe the transverse 4.3 didn't share as many parts with the 5.7 as the longitudinal ones did so you could have got yourself quite the project.

Hopefully someone will be along with some more and better info than I had.

You can add a water separator such as a Racor R120A series with the R12S filter which is a 2 micron filter and delete the current setup altogether or use the factory filter as a primary filter along with the racor system which will be your secondary setup.I have primary and secondary fuel filter systems on every diesel vehicle I own.The parts for the 4.3 V6 are like gold dust to be perfectly honest so parts are hard to come by but they are still available out there but are hard to locate.

You should try adding one of these systems along with your current fuel filter system. This filter system traps dirt down to 2 microns providing you use the r12s filter.I have the exact system on both my Passat and Mercedes Diesel engines. The Racor 120 series is small and compact which makes it perfect to use under the hood of any diesel car.
