1978 seville diesel

Anyone know where I might find a diesel control module for my 78 seville diesel? The GM part number is 12004694. I think it was only used in 1978 and some 1979 models. Thanks!

If you can't find it on Rock Auto just keep an eye on Ebay for it to pop up.

Its what we would call a glow control module. Its been a while since I tinkered with one that old but I seem to recall there was just a simple temp sensor on the engine that sent a signal back to the module that then decided how long to run the external glow solenoid and switch the non labeled dash light from amber to green.

If you are interested in converting to something easier to find let us know, there are several options.

Thanks for the information.....mine is working now, but i was wanting to have one as a good spare. I would like to hear about the options as far as converting to a different system,,,,,and would the wait and start lights still work on the conversion?...thanks.

Is it the grey one on the passenger side front of engine? The glow plug controller? If so temp sensor is integrated on my 82 by I'm not sure if yours is the same. They are flakey mine is done and over riding the solenoid on the passenger inner fender liner is a good option.

I will have to look at my Cadillac manuals to refresh my memory on that design. The newer designs don't use the start light, just a wait light. Will have to look and see how hard it would be to create something that could still use it. Cadillac may have been the only one that used that exact design. My 80 Cadillac owners manual had the wait and stop lights but then a sticker covering it up showing the 'new' only wait system and the new water in fuel light.
