Cruze Diesel--First Oil Change Question

Bought a new Cruze Diesel. Love it so far! Great mileage and actually fun to drive with plenty of torque for a small car.

Question: This being my first brand new car, is there a benefit to doing an oil change early on to get rid of any metal/junk in the system from the manufacturing process?

I say yes. First few times I change oil had oil analysis taken. Defently dirty assembly process.

Thanks for the response. Did some google-fu and there's a ton of discussion on this from various points of view. Bottom line, it's my money and my peace of mind... I'll get it on the sked.

Will do. It's pretty well loaded with everything but fogs and the pioneer system. I've got the fogs already to install. May upgrade the speakers later. Averaging 32 mpg in mixed driving. Highway with cruise nets mid to high 40s. Not as comfortable as my Sierra but more comfortable and solid than I expected of a small car.

What does the book say for the first change? My VW is 10,000. I could not stand to wait that long so I did it myself around 5 and 15 then still had the dealer do it at 10 and 20 so it would be documented for warranty.

What oil does that thing need? The VW stuff is hard to find so its not cheap, makes the $80 the dealer charges seem like a reasonable deal.

Book calls for 7500 mile interval.

Oil is 0W-40 or 5W-40 Dexos 2. Similar or same as the VW. Have been working on sourcing in the local area.

Going by what I learned with oil analysis. The next new vehicle I own first oil change will be 500 miles. Then extended interval each oil after. Like 2500 then 5000 then 7500. Doing oil analysis at each change.

Really old thread. But the dealer I bought mine from offered the first 4 oil changes free as long as they were within the first two years.

Same here. The problem I've run into is that GM sold the maintenance package with a DEF Fill-up but will only pay dealers for 1 gallon per service. It takes at least 2 gallons to reset the DIC message according to the manual. I'm going back and forth with GM on this issue right now.
