1978-1980 Oldsmobile 5.7Diesel Training Manual

Found something for you guys in my search for FAQ resources.

1978-1980 Oldsmobile 5.7Diesel Training Manual.pdf

Special thanks to hatzie For his hard work on 67-72chevytrucks for uploading many of these manuals.
If you find them helpful, buy a hard copy that's easier to work with.

I have seen these for sale but dont think I would have ever broken down and bought one of these. just save me $25. Not sure how much will pertain to my 82. Other than the block and injectors I think everything else is same or similar. Im downloading this. Thanks again.

Thanks Diaric. A very good foundation for basic specs and I found the final page on special tools both interesting and amusing at the same time. I've seen some of those tools over the years during tool surveys at GM dealerships and wondered what they were, besides just obsolete, now I know. I also have a resource I would like to contribute to the stickey library, once I figure out how to do that. A poor copy of the torque/horsepower curve for the LF9. It took several days of searching to find it. Maybe dieselolds has this in the service manual and can replace it with a copy you can actually read.

Sorry, just noticed this one. You can upload it as attachment. You will see it as the paper clip icon in the reply boxes other than quick reply.

Any info that helps others and builds a collection is of value

Looks like My scan of a fairly old GM Service Training Group textbook... From HERE--->1978_1980_Oldsmobile_350N_Diesel_Training_Manual.p df
This is really only applicable to the original early N series engines with pencil injectors that GM put in the trucks. Many of those were updated to the DX block with Poppet heads and injection pump or just "upgraded" to gasoline engines.
I have a copy of the later 78-85 5.7L textbook that includes the DX and Micro Poppet injectors... I have yet to scan the beast.

Here's two training booklets that have pretty decent 5.7L Olds fuel system details but not nearly what's in the big 78-85 5.7L diesel textbook.

GM_STG_16015_03_1A_Advanced_Diesel.pdf
ST37182_Chevrolet_Diesel_Fuel_Systems_Manual.pdf

Funny thing is, I didn't find it there. I got it off a pay to view site with manuals and books, then saw it originally came from you. Thank you for the hard work you have done. I have spent weeks searching to come up with many more resources, and host them here. We have been burnt so many times with linking good info that later disappears, that we upload all we can now to ensure accessibility. I've given you needed credit for your work, and you are welcome to borrow what you like from here.

Many will be looking forward to that. Good info is about as hard to find as parts. Richard.
