Any info that helps others and builds a collection is of value
At least one of these sleazy jackwagons were selling it and linking to my S3 bucket so I paid for their bandwidth after they charged for it.

1978-1980 Oldsmobile 5.7Diesel Training Manual

Be very careful removing the, I'm not sure what it's called, but the ball on a post looking thing. They are made out of a very hard, but brittle metal. You can't use a regular Allen wrench or it will break. There is a special tool that clamps around it to support it while being removed.

You must be referring to the Bristol drive bolt in the lower section of the pump on the pencil injected engines.Yes it’s a brittle alloy and can break easily.I usually use a torx socket or hex socket with impact gun and I whip it out of there.A ratchet with torx socket will only split the bolt.

Any pictures to share? My father and I have had our share of those 5.7 Diesel engines over the years from rebuilding them to overhauling the injection pumps, etc but because parts are getting tough to find we hardly use them anymore.I still have a 1981 5.7 diesel in a 78 Chevy truck. And a early 78 engine in our garage.
