I like those articles found in popular science magazines back then.I've collected a lot of them.I bought some from ebay that came laminated which looked great.Seemed this engine had a lot of problems in the beginning and GM did not recover that easily from it.A couple extra head bolts per cylinder combined with a water separator would have made a tremendous difference in reliability.

They had a 'water separator' it was just the fuel tank instead of a filter like every other diesel in the world.

Didnt know Grabowski was a fan. I have some press release photos suppose to be from Michigan. They look original. I framed the truck picture as a gift for my other half who is a Huge diesel fan and we placed the press release behind the photo in the frame. We have alot of original literature here too. Neat stuff to have.

Also having the outlet lower than the inlet on the model 50 filter did not help any either.

So the non AC cars / trucks got the alternator on the other side? Seems like even the 70's cars with the long A6 compressors it was on the right side same as the R4 era its just the R4's they tucked em a little closer since they were not so deep.
