Name that Diesel

Anyone recognize this engine? AM General is listed as the origin on the NSN check.

Just curious.

It's just your run of the mill 6.5L diesel, nothing special about it.

Edit: I should add that it's not a GM 6.5L, it's the way better cast AM General version so it's a good motor.

That's what I thought but I'm not real familiar with the 6.2 and 6.5s.

Would be great for a repower on the cheap. The AMG version of the 6.5 is lightyears better. I've been considering trying Gov liquidation for a spare motor.

I don't see anything to differentiate it from a 6.2 or a 6.5. 6.2 castings were no different than civilian.

You can see it's a 1-piece crank, has the turbo oil feed port and has the center mount turbo casting. It's at least a 6.5 506 engine. But only one way to tell it's a GEP is the Diamonds in the engine valley, pretty good chance it has em, but hard to tell.

So it apparently sold for $790? Seems like a decent gamble unless you had to pay a lot to ship it.

It's definitely a gamble but I would be willing for that price and for a GEP block. Shipping is where it gets shitty on these auctions from what I hear.
