Being that its a Canyon, they'll probably use an undersized anemic powerplant that won't hold up long.

I'm still sure moderate gains will be achievable though, as an engine just strong enough to hold stock output would have serious reliability issues. So there will be a "safety" factor built in, we just won't know how much until someone breaks the first one.

Now maybe it won't be like the 6.6 where it is possible to double output on a stock motor, but even a 30hp gain would be significant in a Canyon sized chasis.

Its about time. The rest of the world has been getting small economy diesels for years. Our only choice has been tdi but dang what if you camp or ever move a couch. I'm excited.

I know that GM and Isuzu stopped their joint engine program but Isuzu has been in the small diesel market for a long time, so I think that if they used one of those engines you might have a winner in the small truck diesel market. I know where there are a couple of the Isuzu Pup's with the diesels that are still running today but I don't know what the mileage is on the trucks.

There were a couple of trooper diesels here and there as well. In the 80's there was a diesel mitsu pickup. It got in the 30's

Most of us don't go looking for new threads hidden in old threads.

If they build the Colorado 2.8L diesel and price reasonably I will be standing in line....

The new colorado was introduced in thailand with 2 diesels based on the duramax a 2.5L and 2.8L 4 cyl. I keep hoping they will come to the US.
