The new GM Diesel engine

I guess everyone on here is aware of the 50% ownership of the 3.0L VM Motori diesel is by GM and yes the other 50% is own by Fiat, Hallo Ram/Jeep Cherokee and maybe Chevy 1500 for the 2014 actual year. 265hp and over 400 lb-ft of torque. What do you all think?

it would be real sweet to have a light duty diesel, improved fuel economy and power! Is this the same 3.0L that is in some of the JEEP/chrysler products already?

It will be in the Grand Cherakee, according to Diesel Power magazine anouncement and it first for 2013, the next will be Ram the following year. Remember when the anouncement on how the Chevy & GMC were going to compete with Fords TB V6 the GM Rep said they had a better way and it is diesel. now you will have to make your own judgement in what.

I think it would be an absolute hoot in an S10

FWIW, Banks Engineering already has taken this engine to 600hp and IIRC I read somewhere that they plan on selling this engine with stand alone electronics for engine converions into jeeps or ??????

It's about time, wondering why GM hasn't been working on a 6 cylinder version of the Duramax.

I'd love to have a duramax in an old school Camaro...... 11sec quarters and 30mpg+ on the freeway
