2004 Escalade ESV HD Build Thread

Here's the start of what will probably be a painfully slow build thread. Nothing too out of the ordinary for this forum, 2004 Escalade ESV, 2001 Suburban 2500 frame, 2006 Gmc will supply the LBZ and rear axle. Going to try to fab up a heavy duty rear air ride. I have some pieces collected but not sure if these will fit or if I will need to find something smaller. Gonna start off by getting the extra wiring installed in the escalade, 4x4, tap shift, high speed databus etc. Not real familiar with posting pics on here, so might be some trial and error on that front.

Probably if you pay PB, they'll remove that watermark.

The process for uploading pics to this site is pretty easy, and then you aren't dependent on the whims of another site to maintain the pics (as PB has changed their terms of service in the past, disabling the viewing of images on remote sites like this one, making threads using those pictures much less useful).

Experimenting with the forum.

Never mind me, just trying to get the picture uploading figured out

Quick update

Ok, made some small progress steps, got the interior 4x4 harness completed, plugged it into the donor pickup to make sure it all functioned properly, also getting started on the Peterbilt low air leaf rear suspension installation. Im shocked by how light the rear of the frame is built compared to a 2500 pickup. I'm thinking of plating the outside with 1/4" steel. Just curious if anyone has done this or had any frame problems towing with a 2500 suburban? Maybe I'm just over thinking it?

That should be a slick rear suspension, I would imagine it will be a smoother ride than stock, but still able to carry the weight. Nice upgrade! Never really thought to do something like that before.

I've seen people on the forums box their frames, but the tow rating between the 2500 suburbans and Silverados are roughly the same. I suspect the frames are beefier on the trucks because of the possibility of putting 2,000 lbs in the bed.

the Burb frames are VERY weak between the rear leaf hanger and the bumper. 99% of the trailer hitchs for the 2500 Burb mount behind the rear spring mount, Iv personally seen 4 break the frame there because of it
