Ok. So im getting conflicting answers from different sources.

Cylinders 1 3 5 7 are on driver side
Cylinders 2 4 6 8 are on the passenger side
Lowest numbered towards the front
Highest numbered towards the rear

I know all its predecessors (62 & 65) are like this along with most gm engines. In fact I cant think of one that is not. But thats neither here nor there.

The conflict of info I find is the opposite.

1 3 5 7 on passenger side. 2 4 6 8 on the driver side.

I definitely dont want to pull the incorrect injector. That would be bad...

Well crap. Its starting to look like gm decided to switch it up on me sofar. If the lml is like the prior 6.6s (lmm, lb7 ect...) then that means..

1 3 5 7 located on passenger side
2 4 6 8 located on driver side

Im not going to tear into the motor to do the replacement until I get some sort of confirmation but...

Im going to do the compression test on the other side. No big deal.

But I hope someone helps me soon. Im having to work between rain. Not raining now. Will be by noon though :banghead:

Well crap. Looks like the odd side is the passenger side. I would still like someone to confirm this for me before I pull the valve cover to replace the injector. But im gonna go ahead and do a compression test on the passenger side. Not difficult.

Damnit gm... why ? Lol.

Anyway. Injector replacement went swell.

Anyone have a reason as to why they swapped / reversed bank / cylinder numbers post 6.2 / 6.5? Or did they do it just to throw people off? Maybe to make some more room on passenger side between the firewall and engine? hmm..

Because the 6.2/ 6.5 was designed and engineered on this side of the planet, and the Duramax was partially designed and engineered halfway around the world, with the help of the fine folks at Isuzu.
The mirror image is result of being from the opposite side of the planet.
