Typewriter noise not at idle

I've read alot of threads regarding the typewriter noise at idle and all, but mine only clicks when i just slightly press on the accelerator, it doesnt matter what speed. If I'm on the highway doing 75 with the cruise on it will make this noise. If i give it more fuel it will go away. I also noticed it would only do this in the 1200-1800 rpm range. Like if i take off slowly from a stop light, it will clack till i hit 1800rpm or so. But if i leave the light more aggressive it won't make the noise at all. I don't remember hearing it when it was newer. I got 30k miles on it using mobil 1300 oil, i just picked up some rotella t and will see if that makes any difference. But is there anything i could check? It's like the timing is retarded (instead of advancing)

Run a hevy dose of fuel system cleaner through it or do the GM spec injector clean. That might clear it up.

Sound more like your injectors than the engine. Doubt motor oil will make a difference.

The Suburban Club Member

Does it change when you change the programmer level? Does engine temp make a difference?

After axe mentioned about injector cleaner i forgot i haven't been using the optilube for a while, so this morning put some fuel in and added a double dose. I ran some errands and didn't seem as bad.
I usually just run it on the performance level and temperature wise it does seem worse when it's hot.
I was reading earlier about checking the injector balance rates. Is that something i should check into? I saw you can download an app and get a bluetooth obd adapter to check. Will that adapter work on my truck?

I use Torque Pro app and the OBD Link MX, but I still haven't figured out how to get the injector rates.

Edge Insight would be more reliable.

If I run a high dose of Opti Lube XPD I get less noise. Not as noticeable on the 15, but very noticeable on my 05.

I went out tonight and dialed up the Torque Pro app. I was able to get the injector rate balances to come up. Should work on your 2013 lml too.
