Maybe an experiment.....?

Compare the cost of replacing non programmable ECM's vs dealing with issues from having the ECM's reflashed via "non OEM standards". There's only one way to find out real world results (do it).

The sad part is I have heard that there are lobbyists who are trying to impose stricter fines for those that remove emmissions equipment and are pushing automakers to make emmission systems harder to defeat (locking ECM's would definitely be a start....).

Now that GM is in the hands of the government, lobbyist are going to have more say.....

I miss the 80's

But then again allison somehow couldnt figure out to make the new 4th gen TCM's read/flash in faster than 45 minutes either when their 3rd gen TCM's designed in a mid 1990's can be reflashed in 5 minutes.
The Allison TCM Reflash tool flashes the Motorola TCM at 250K can or 500K CAN. The Allison Dealers flash 4th Gen TCM's in less than 10 minutes.
