boost gauge shows 0 boost

hi all, i am pretty new to diesels and anything turbocharged.
and i am wondering about my boost gauge and or turbo. so i saw originally that the vacuum system was not working because of some cracked lines so in stead of fixing that i got a turbo master. when i put that on i was trying to figure out if there was some preset i could put it at for 8-10 pounds but i couldn't find anything of the sort. so i figured i would need a boost gauge to figure it out, so i ordered one and a boost bolt also. so i hooked it up and drove around a little revved it and even tried brake boosting it but couldn't get the boost gauge to move at all. so i thought that maybe the gauge was stuck or something so i used my air compressor to try and get it to move which worked. so now i am not really sure if i have it hooked up wrong somehow or if my boost master is set wrong which i don't know how to set.

Boost is not a constant. Is your turbo master home made or is it the actual part from Heath?
If it is home made you need the correct spring rate to make the setup work correctly.

Where'd you install the boost line? Maybe some pics of that engine bay would help.

Leroy has a boost bolt install video on Youtube:

You will need to take the vehicle out for test runs and monitor the boost gauge and adjust as you make a few pit stops.
You should not set the Turbo Master above 10psi.

Yes, but if you have a boost gauge that start the scale from 25 psi, it is too high. The boost in this truck probably max at 20 psi for the gauge to show.

If the gauge start at 25 psi, the value of, say, 6 psi will show as 0.
The lower the max psi, the better you will see the pressure.

Just an observation.
