Bought a part truck

I bought a 1997 3500 dually manual transmission truck for the engine. The engine will start right up with minimal cranking, does not seem to have blowby and not pressuring the upper rad hose from the get go. The truck has 60k miles but probably a lot of hour. I’m wondering if there is anything i should diagnose before yanking the engine out.

Also, if some body need anything from the truck, please ask, I’m in central Québec.

It is making a slight white fume on startup but clear after 5 min or so.

When you yank the engine that would be the time to update the Harmonic balancer, waterpump, timing chain, rocker retainers, OPS, glow plug system, oil cooler lines, etc...

My 98 Did that in the mornings only, but honestly thing that was condensation in the exhaust system burning off as opposed to other engine issues.
