1994 c3500HD 6.5 TD 15gvw cab swap

i picked up a 94 TD hd the other day. plan on building a wrecker out of it. the cab is shot. nice hole right in the driver floor below the accelerator pedal. looking to do a little custom fabrication and mount a extended cab onto this chassis. i know the rear of the frame is different and ill prob have to cut/fabricate to get it to fit.

i have a few questions. if i got a cab say off a 1500 series truck. bodywise the cabs are all the same correct? as in my fenders and dash will swap into it?

are regular cab and extended cab front doors the same?

if i got a cab off a newer extended cab truck 96+ that had the 3rd door could i run my dash and door panels in that cab.?

if i got a 94 extended cab but it was from a gas truck. cound i convert that cluster to work with my diesel wiring? my current cluster has no tach and it will drive me crazy, dont want an aftermarket.

if i retained all of my stock wiring from my cab, how hard would it be to add in power windows/locks?

if all goes as planned ill get the extended cab on my HD frame. then move the rear axle up to a 60" cab to axle and cut the rest of the rear frame.

at the end of the day, i am trying to make something like this

Imo your best bet would be take a crap load of pics of your current cab setup along with measurements, then go compare to the cab you'd like to swap to. I'd just take an extended cab and drop it on the frame and be done with it. Keep the dash and wiring from the new cab.

I have contemplated the same thing. Could be done, the power window and door locks a fairly straight forward. May require swapping out the complete harness for a diesel if the cab you choose is a gasser ( in order to get the 3rd door ex cab) as far as the cab fitment to the HD frame it will require some good measuring and fabrication skills and equipment for sure. Here is a thread on a guy kinda doing some serious fab on a 3500HD....https://www.dieselbombers.com/diesel...mc-3500hd.html
