dies, swap PMD, start, swap back to old PMD it starts

Has anyone seen this ??

1. Dies . . won't re-start
2. Swap to bad PMD that will start but not keep running . . . starts and dies
3. Swap back to old PMD . . . it starts and runs fine

Died at idle holding about 1000 rpm

Would not restart

This is the second time this has occurred with a different PMD bolted to the relocation heat sink even

Anyone seen this before??

Check your PMD harness. A bad connector, loose pins, frayed wires etc...

Let me try to understand, are you running now with the old PMD?

Is this no. 4: Died at idle holding about 1000 rpm, ? in the sequence?
If so, the old PMD is bad also.

I'd be checking the wiring very carefully for anything like frayed wires, loose crimps, loose connectors, burned or chaffed wiring. Check the PMD extension cable and if you can try mounting the PMD on the pump and hooked to the factory harness, ruling out the extension cable. Also might want to be looking for any fuel leaks, air in the fuel system can cause many problems.

I have.. Likely treating the symptoms.

Common actually, specially when people change PMDs ad nauseum instead of looking for and fixing the root cause of the problem(s).

I have many PMDs that work fine until theres a signal disruption and suddenly all hell breaks loose.

New PMD restores normal operations, how long depends on the severity and/or frequency of the condition.
Often, new PMDs will kick minor problems down the road for another day or could be two years.

PMDs, everytime they encounter a lost signal, it corrects in order to avoid those infamous fishbite(s) as the QDM are no longer capable of switching ON and/or OFF fast enough to maintain smooth operations.
As the QDM gets ever more fatigued, the slower it tends to react and/or recover.

Currently in the middle of a lengthy on-going experiment and dont want to issue a spoiler alert but Ive seen all the signs and symptoms of defective PMDs over the past 6 months or more, yet once my fuel system was repaired read restored, that troublesome PMD (still on IP) that initially triggered all fishbites and stalling has miraculously fixed itself. At least it works fine now provided no system disruptions, natural or otherwise.. Its when the natural system disruptions are replaced with more frequent unnatural system disruptions often associated with breakdown of basic systems that can quickly take a toll on any PMD, new or used, or manufacturer although the Stanadyne PMDs are proving far more resistant and forgiving than them others that once affected got extremely irratic and often violent when pooh hits the fan.
