So, I have a 1997 GMC suburban with a 6.5 in it. I've owned it for about 3 years and have lost track of the repairs I've had to make. Vehicle has about 225,000 miles on it currently. For the last few days, I've been having several problems with my turbo. I'm blowing oil out the tailpipe and I can smell oil burning, the turbo is whining under a load, and it won't make more than about 2 psi worth of boost. I checked the impeller and although the blades aren't hitting the housing, it seems like their is an awful lot of play in the impeller. I think that the turbo is shot, but I wanted a second opinion before I go buy one.
To date I've changed the lift pump, glow plugs, injector pump and injectors, PCV valve, and installed a 4in turbo back exhaust upgrade. Also, truck already had a turbo master mechanical linkage on the turbo when I bought it. Any information would be much appreciated.
