Wastegate issue still

I posted a thread a while ago when the check engine light was intermittently coming on around 55 mph but would go away when you let off the gas Several people chimed in and told me to check the wastegate sill annoyed vacuum pump etc. it was a no-brainer just to go ahead and swap out the sill annoyed but then I noticed that the mushroom portion of the vacuum pump had totally fallen off and was dangling This too was a no-brainer it had to be replaced Everything has been swapped over I'm getting about 23 inches coming to the so annoyed but I am not getting any vacuum at the wastegate from the solenoid switch so annoyed but I am not getting any vacuum at the wastegate from the solenoid switch I put a hand vacuum on the wastegate itself and pump it up to 5 pounds and the rod pulled in. I've read several post saying I should have 15 inches of vacuum at the wastegate during idle. Could it possibly be something wrong with the solenoid switch for no power getting to the solenoid. I read one post where a guy was trying to explain how to test the switch but said you could screw stuff up if you did it wrong so does anybody have any suggestions from here

This: Heath Diesel Turbo-Master GM

Must have a boost gauge to set it up.

I'm not ready for that financially. I haven't got any gauges yet or the bolts from leroys. I just spent a small fortune on the vacuum pump and solenoid plus accessories. I was trying to keep things stock till the end of summer. I heard there was a way to test the cannon plug that powers the wastegate solenoid. Or is there a fuse or relay that powers it and possibly blown.

IDK. Mine came with the Turbo Master. Maybe some help in the 1994 factory manual. Here is a link: https://www.dieselplace.com/forum/63-...ml#post7233722

Hopefully someone will jump in with some real world tips.

You replaced the boost solenoid at the rear if the intake, have vacuum, but no vacuum to the wastegate? Only thing left is a wiring issue...

That's a PWM solenoid so the only good way to test it is to use software to command the PCM to control it.

Test the solenoid connector and report the measured duty cycle while idling:

How to measure duty cycle with a digital multimeter

Report back and I'll check some logs later to see what it should be. If this reads above 50% and you have no vacuum to the wastegate then it's making a bad connection or your new solenoid is junk.

Did you reverse the vacuum tubing to the solenoid?

With the plug sitting in place on manifold. Cannon plug towards tire. Hose coming from vacuum pump is first and hose from wastegate is second closest to the firewall.

I put a new WG solenoid and new vacuum pump on my truck but still had occasional CEL, especially highway cruising. Sometimes black smoke and the wastegate would sometimes be floppy at idle instead of held shut. Turned out to be a bad MAP sensor. The ECM can't regulate the wastegate solenoid properly if its getting faulty info from the MAP sensor.

My 96 just has one MAP on the intake plunum, but I guess some years have one on the intake and another baro sensor on the firewall for reference? Others will know more than I about this, just my 2 cents on what fixed mine.

That's exactly what mine is doing it does it between 45 and 60 mile-per-hour As soon as I let off the gas the light cuts right off When finances get better I will probably add a boost gauge and drive the turbo master everyone is talking about I just don't want any issues till then because I do pull my 33' camper with this
