Ground Issues

Hi I am having issues with my grounds, I replaced my starter and both batteries. My truck still occasionally clicks. Any suggestions? The reason I ask is because I cannot seem to find the correct ground to clean properly. I have found one ground next to my left side battery, that I believe goes to the starter. I removed the bolt sanded it down to bare metal and screwed it back in. Still occasionally clicks.

Starter solenoid is probably on its way out.

Great link, but I don't believe I am cleaning all of them. I believe there may be one or a few that I am missing that is causing this problem.

Please fill out your signature so when know what vehicle you have.

Double check all your starters wire connections. 4 months could have loosened a wire. And yes, new parts do fail in a short time; sucks.

Also make sure the solenoid wires are tight. i have gotten new starters and the battery supply wire bolt was loose, also once and a while, the small wire for the ignition start was loose... sometimes its a friday where they wanna hurry up and get home and not care if the part is right, or a monday where there hung over and dont give a rats a$$ either. Always check new parts and bolts everywhere before installing, especially starters and alternators. the grounds that will effect the starter the most will be the ground behind the passenger side head, and the one that bolts from the fram on the right side to the body that is under the A/C dryer unit by the heater core hoses. ALSO, check the area where the starter and engine block bolt together, if there is a lot of grease or oil between them, and the bolts are greasy as hell, it can cause intermediate "shortage" since the starter uses the bolts and the block as there ground source. If you have the side mount batteries, check the bolts that mount on the battery, i always cut the rubber off and take the bolts out and find a CRAP LOAD of moisture and corrosion in them. I hope you find the issue.
