enghmotors software question...

Question...

As I put together my holiday gift wish list, will the enghmotors software all me to only read the data on 1996 K3500 OBDII system? From what I read with the 1996 and later, I cannot 'adjust' the IP timing with the software, is that correct?

Unless you are looking at some other software than this Engh Motors - GMTDScan Basic

That is only for 94 & 95 years OBD1 systems.

Okay thanks for the info.

I guess I'll ask it this way, with a 1996 OBDII is that software any assistance to have for this truck? Or am I just as well with my OBDII code reader?

My Actron code reader did not display much in the line of live data (as compared to when I have it hooked to a gasser).

That software isn't compatible with obd2. It will be useless for you. There are a couple of options for you tech 2 I think. Some others with the obd2 Can come in.

No, Most readers will not show timing.. ..

96-'00 OBD2 will need the Car Code, AutoEnginuity PC software and cable or AUTEL® MaxiDAS®, available on the net, all three service GM.
All 3 are very user-friendly, does everything the TECH2 does for engine and transmission test and control. All three connect to the USB port on a laptop computer.
Snap On MT2500 can be used for OBDII but there are some limitations:

Okay, thanks for all for the info.

I asked about my Actron Code Reader live data feed because I was surprised at the little amount of live data was read on the truck as compared to when I have the reader hooked to a gasser (IE: engine temps, charging voltages, etc). I had thought that being OBDII, the truck would give the reader the same level of live data.

I really don't have a problem or issue I am diagnosing, I just wanted to see what live data I could pull from the truck.

Almost nothing because there is just no sensor to read the data.
In other words, the data cannot be automagically show up at the reader if there is no sensor.

The implementation on this truck for OBD-II is very rudimentary.
It is just used to read codes and there is no live data.

I have no knowledge of what the OBDII scan tools can read, but GMTDScan Basic & Tech will read "live" data from 50+ sensors on the OBDI trucks.
