1 Ton CC revival ?

Hi guys I've started on my 94 and have a question I can find. So far I've dropped the tank pulled the sock and inspected my sender. Ripped all the fuel and brake lines out and the motor is almost ready to come out. Just have the TC bolts and motor mounts. Didnt notice my starter was cracked till now. Noticed my u bolts are really rusty ordered new ones. Have brand new parts piling up in the basement. Anyways two questions.

The LP connector ground appears to run to the rear and ground on top of the frame, I dont like this can I clip it and ground it closer to the pump or is this not where it grounds?

Second question do I have to drop the trans crossmember to get to the upper bell housing bolts? Can I just pull the mount and let it drop a couple inches? Thanks alot and if I get hung up ill post here if thats cool.

Is that the side of the block in the first photo?

I don't know why they put the ground all the way in the back. I put mine right near the pump. Anywhere underneath is likely not very good for corrosion especially where we live.

Anybody know if I need to drop the trans crossmember to gain clearance to the upper bell housing bolts?

I take the top bellhousing bolts out from on top with a box end wrench. Removing the crossmember won't gain much before the tail housing of the transfer case hits the torsion bar crossmember.
Since I have a engine hoist and leveler that can do it, I take engine, trans and transfer case out in one piece

If you pull the motor mounts out and drop the engine slightly, you can access the top (2) bolts from the top with an open end wrench. I did what others suggested and use a bunch of extensions and a deep socked to get them from behind the tranny (I had like 3 feet of extensions) but found it a lot easier to get at them from the top. Not saying its easy, and your hand gets pretty cramped, but I found it easier.

I don't have any firewall insulation on mine which gives me a bit more room.
