Hydro-boost whine?

I can hear it while going down the road. Changes when turning the wheel.
I got the fluid good and rightly hot doing a tow, the hoses were very hot.
Would it be the pump or hydro-boost. Is it worry worthy as I plan a long, heavy tow.
BTW, it is reman unit, as the original leaked after putting to much fluid in the pump.
I am installing a cooler.

Mods done: Teds Optimizer 6.5l, HX40WII turbo. WMI, Rebuilt H.O injection pump and marine injectors. Hi flow diesel air cleaner. Aluminum finned rear diff cover. ARP head studs. ARP main cap studs. Industrial cored radiator. High output water pump. Heavy duty fan clutch. High CFM Kennedy fan. Level 3 4L80E w/ aux. 3 core cooler, Twin sticker NP205. Remote oil cooler w/ stainless braided lines. Steering cooler in the factory oil cooler. 9-16-36 14 ply STA Super-Lug Bias-ply tires on stock rims. Sound deadener (roof sealant roll). Camo seat cover. Deep, finned aluminum trans pan. 3' to 4' to 5' exhaust. New tinted windshield. Window and door seals. Brake controller & tow hitch. Steering filter, Coolant filter, Dual fuel filters, pumps and tanks. Slider rear window. Dual Alts. Red top batteries, 2/0 battery cables. Oil, water, transmission temp gauges, egg, tach, host gauges, volt, fuel pressure, oil pressure gauges, transmission pressure gauge. Lokar classic shifter.

Air in the P/S system? which can be caused by leaks on the high pressure hoses.

Low fluid in the P/S system?

P/S system is connected to hydroboost.

Overfilling the pump should have no effect on anything, other that fluid dumping out the cap as you drive. The HB can't make noise - it comes from the pump. But the pump shouldn't make noise unless 1) it's worn out, or 2) there's air in the lines. With the engine running, does the fluid in the reservoir look frothy?

As said you may have air in the lines/pump
Try bleeding the pump. To bleed it right.....
The front tires must be off the ground. Don't start engine.
Then turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times. Have someone look in the power steering res for bubbles foam.
The fluid level should drop as system bleeds. Add fluid to full. Till bubbles /foaming disappear.
Then you have to bleed the hydroboost.
Don't turn the steering wheel.
Discharge the Hydro Boost brake unit by performing three full presses on the brake
pedal.
— Watch power steering reservoir for any bubbling, foaming or burping.
— Once foam clears, crank engine until it just catches and shut off.
— Discharge Hydro Boost unit with three full presses of the brake pedal.
— Repeat these steps until no air or foam is seen in the reservoir.
— If brake pedal feels soft, spongy or funny, system is not fully bled.
After that lower vehicle back to ground start and idle for a few minutes. Turn wheel back and forth. the pump should be quiet and steering should be smooth. Check fluid level then shut off engine. If fluid level rises you still have air in the system.

Maybe it got air in it when it got so hot/ I'll be swapping pumps with the engine, so new fluid and see what happens.

The caption of this diagram contains the bleed procedure recommended by Ford (which is very similar):

Ignore the fluid type - use whatever is recommended for your pump & box.

The NEXT several diagrams contain more info on the Bendix HydroBoost.

If you do have air in the system getting the front wheels off the ground really seems to help them bleed out faster. The load of turning the wheels on the ground seems to just make things worse. Fluid ends up foaming and it just seems to just make a mess.
