starting woes

had this truck maybe a year now (94 6.5 t.d)when i got it it ran rough and blew alot of smoke on start up sales man said he touched peddel on start thats what caused it. so neieve me listened to him ( pointy needle when it stickes you = ends in rick). lp works changed ops, glow plugs but wire connectors seem loose at glow plugs/ going to check connections 1st. geting weird codes 35 78 31 29 . they vary. sometimes all sometimes none which has me hopefull for a ground or dirty connecters vacume lines were broke replaced them still get ses till warm thinking pump is bad comes and goes makes a sound like a thrown rod beering when hammered when not hot.can vacume pump work intermintent? still blows alot of smoke on start sometimes and sometimes starts right up not when it is colder mostly on warmer days here in calgary ab it has not been that warm lately. wife had to try several times the other day to start . i cycle gp 2 times seems better sometimes . when ses comes on cruise shuts off which i think is operated by vacume leading me again to pump .any input greatfull before i buy a scooter and at 295 5ft 11 i well look like a fly on a side of beef or should i say a side of beef on a fly.

Start out with Diagnostic Check list. There are links there to common failing parts on your truck. Look in FAQ's as to the meanings behind your codes, and see if you can get 'clued in' as to where to begin. There is a lot of reading/reference material housed on this site. You'll have to do some homework to help us help you.

You have many issues going on, all seperate, yet contributing to the mess you have now.

Diagnostic Links & Common Failures: Turbo System * Lift Pump/OPS * PMD * Stalling
