any one got a cross section of a gm-8

im looking for a cross section view of a gm-8 turbo and wasgate, i dont care if its a cad cam drawing or a picture im just trying to figure out the details of these turbos to increase efficiancy.

1998 GMC 6.5 s vin turned into a f, z71 1500 series, vacuum pump deleted, remote pmd, high idle mod, -40c fooler mod, all lights on mod, turbo master, true four inch down/ fender pipe, fully gauged, glow plug over ride, custom cold air intake, oil filter bypass, custom oil cooler and lines, painted dash bezel, eagle alloy rims, custom counsol, new ho lift pump. That's gonna be a hard one to get, and I'm not cutting up my spare 8 for ya

What exactly is it that you want the pic for? I know em inside and out, I just don't have any exploded or cross sectionals.

WAIT! I lied... I JUST found something on google.



Now... Other then the fact that it's in German, and it's not a Gm-8 (RHC6) This is an RHB6, Both are made by IHI, and they are built very similar, except the RHB6 doesn't flow as much air.


See, same family tree, just the baby compaired to the 4rd largest lol.

The major difference is when they switched from the wastegate in the housing, as seen in the pic below, in the gm-4 and went to the wastegate in the turbine outlet elbow for the Gm-8.

Bought it with a pooched engine and rebuilt it myself! 211,000 kms on the truck, 110,000km on the rebuild, still chuggin and still screamin.
If you're not drivin it hard, you don't deserve to drive it!

thats exactly what i wanted to see, basically i am gonna ditch the elbow and make a smoother transition to a four inch "down pipe" i was just unsure if the wastegate was in the eldo or on the "snail" of the exhaust housing

hey didnt even think about this before, do you still have that gm-8 apart? if so could i bother you to make a quick sketch of the bolting flange of the cast elbow? b/c i have acess to a cad program with school and id like to get the flange made for my xmas break, than i can cnc it and get this porject on the go.
