All of a sudden, harder to start...lift pump?

I have a 1996 Suburban 6.5L, and it just recently became harder to start in the AM. No codes, nothing else out of the ordinary but hard to start, takes 2 seconds to catch and I have to give it gas to get it going. Before it woudl catch right away. The lift pump sounds different, it's still clicking but is making more of a rattling noise. Would a dying lift pump cause hard starts? It runs the same once it's started, no hesitation on acceleration or anything...any ideas?

I would go through the diagnostic page, I would be leaning to glow plugs, does it run rough?

Once it starts, it runs perfectly. I will try to check the lift pump pressure tomorrow.

i need to replace my stock LP too. I have bad throtle response and starts. Doesn't happen on veggie LP (cummins rotary).

Also checkin the pressure may not tell the truth, my gauge reads with-in-normal limits.

OK, even without checking pressure, I can tell it's the lift pump. I have a 2 tank system for running veggie with 2 switched lift pumps...and there's a T right before the IP. When I started up this morning, over the first 5 min I watched the veggie oil fuel temp gauge slowly climb, something it wasn't doing before...that tells me the IP is pulling fuel from both sides of that T, because as soon as the veggie side has flow the heat exchanger will be flowing hot veggie fuel into the filter, where the temp sensor is...The only reason the IP woud be pulling from both sides is because the lift pump wasn't maintaining pressure on the diesel side, making sure the veggie side is not flowing.
