Depends on what your read. 3400-3600 RPM stock is what I have read. But the stock turbo runs out of effeciency before then. Most shift to higher gear before or around 3200 RPM (just so next gear starts at greater than ~1600 rpm). I haven't read/heard of many people over revving them and hurting them. They don't have a hard electronic rev limiter like the Ford 6.0 which will hit at 4000 rpm.

Have heard rumors of hot rodders tweaking them to run upwards of 5000 rpm with IP mods and heavier valve springs.

Mechanical pump would be the injection pump to have to set various rpm's.

One thing to keep in mind is the injection pump pressure. The pumps are basically already set to max pressure stock. If you rev the engine higher than stock the pressure will dramatically increase above the safe level.

Fuel injection shop with some tinkering ability will be required to jack the rpm's up safely.
