IC Install Complete.....

Who do I talk to about my Hanging ATA Club member number?

I started my install a couple of weeks ago by figuring out the pipe routing on the passenger's side.

https://www.dieselplace.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=151850

I was going to install the F lower intake I bought before I completed the job, but I changed my mind. I was concerned about the frost plug popping out of the EGR tower. It looks like that isn't going to happen because it's still firmly in place and even if it did, it's too big to get out of the upper intake.

So.....

I started the pipe routing for the driver's side the other day and got to the point where I was going to have to cut the inner fender before I got rained out. I cut the inner fender last night without having to remove it. I actually but more that I needed to, but either way, it's really not very noticable. Hopefully you can see if the pics the area that I had to remove.

I don't know how much more I need to say. I'm attaching pics, so they should tell most of the story.

I flared all the ends of the pipes with a pair of pliers. I just went around a gently bent outwards. Just enough to give them a little shoulder for the clamp. I also ran a bead of RTV around the inside of the reducers on the IC and the intake. My main conern is the reducers I got are not the really good quailty ones and I'd heard tell of them blowing off. I think with the flaring and the RTV, they shouldn't be going anywhere.

For those looking for pipe kits, you'll see from a couple of the pics all I needed for the driver's side was 1-90* (cut to size) 1-45* (cut to size) and 1-75* pipe. Passenger's side was 1-90* and 1-45* (both cut to size).

I opted to go with the Peninsular intake rather than flipping the plenum and cutting it. I think it makes pipe routing much easier.

I think that's about all I have to say. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions.

Dave

Just drove it to work through town so no real chance to open it up yet.

Thanks Jimmy. Yours should be the same. Maybe slightly different on the driver's side with the alternator over there, but not likely. Not having to remove the fender on the driver's side saved a lot of work. You'll have the fender off on the passenger's side for your other projects anyway.

Now stop messing around and start installing!!!

Looks good. i jsut worry about the IC being down there. I know mine would have a hole knocked in it with in a week. that and my skidplate is there, unless I am looking at it wrong. can you get us a better pic from the bottom with the ic in it so I can see the placement? i really need one now that I am towing with my rig. GVW 18,500 is begging for more power and cooler air.

Yep...No secrets here. If I do something and learn something from it that will make it easier for the next guy, I'm going to pass it along. I've learned SO much from this site and continue to learn all the time.
