Torque to yield head bolts?!

I need to get my truck back on the road, it needs head gaskets, and injectors.

Apparently I need to use brand-new head bolts?! I am operating on a budget right now, this is an unwanted expense. What happens if I re-use the head bolts? Or go with normal bolts?

Try buying your parts at rockauto.com.Great prices there. You need new bolts.Dont reuse the old head bolts. They are most likely stretched.

Never, ever reuse TTY ( Torque to Yield) head bolts. They are designed as a one-use product.

ARP studs are recommended as a replacement

If you do buy from rockauto, don't forget to use their 5% off discount code. The code is easily found, but changes periodically.

Personally I'd buy new bolts.

You can reuse the ones you got, but there's a chance they'll break since they've already yielded or you'll be doing the job again in the future.

But really, you can get two sets for about 45 shipped from Rockauto.
