Arrghh. Second broken trans case in a month.
So, my brother and I were using my suburban to pull out some shrubs and cactus. (Yes wrong tool for the job. ).
When the trans started hemorrhaging fluid from the rear. Needless to say it cracked the rear of the case all the way around clear thru. So I tracked down another used trans, got it installed. It shifted high for a short while until I was able to get to adjusting the vacuum modulator. Was fine for a day then the flex plate started smacking the aluminum dust cover. So I thought maybe my flex plate had cracked teaching me for not change it while I was in there. Well I pulled the trans today only to find the bellhousing cracked from just below the passanger side dowel, back half way and across half way. Real bummer. I'd upload pics but this site is not allowing me. When I changed the trans I installed a new trans mount. Figuring it must have allowed the transfer case to rotate causing the circular crack in the rear. But now I'm not sure. Anyway, don't have the funds for a new trans so it'll be searching Craigslist for a used.

Unfortunately no. I recieved the burb without them.
However it took a hell of alot of pulling to break the first one. Second trans broke with hardly any usage. Just driving down the street. But no doubt gm put the rods for a reason. I'd just have to source some.

![]() ![]() On our end here, we have not used mobile phones since 2008.....LOL. The casing might have already had a hairline crack in it. We have checked casings here, some of the castings look cracked, but might just be surface imperfections. Finally the 4L80 casings were upgraded with a cross-hatch pattern of strengthening to eliminate the problem of cracked housings.....J&J.

From past experience, have your driveshafts checked & rebalanced.
Had the same problem in my youngest brothers 94 T15 Jimmy. Same issue, first trans broke, finally sourced a 1 yr only trans.....broke even worse 2 weeks later. Figured out it was bad driveshaft harmonics was the culprit.
